I live in the wonderful small town of Uxbridge Ontario.

For as long as I can remember, I made things with my hands. From sewing pants to making shelves or small furniture. I even found photography when I was very young and created photos with film. I also went to film school and worked on movie sets. After that I was a wedding photographer for just over 10 years. Making has always been how my mind worked and how I thought of the world. If there was something I needed, often times finding that one particular product was a challenge. So I learnt to make it.

That is exactly how I became a leather maker.

I always found leather to be a fascinating material. The very craft of leather making goes back centuries so the timeless nature of a new or old item holds a spark of nostalgia that no other material can compare to. Ok maybe brass (I do love my brass tools and pens). An old used leather item just holds that much more of a nostalgic feeling. Mixed with the tough and rugged character of leather, I just loved using it. The problem was that my idea of a leather item was tough to find. So, you guessed it..I made it!

But it wouldn’t be until over 10 years later that I decided leather making was my true passion in life. When I got my dog Mio I made his collar and leashes. From that moment I kept growing my skills, tools and projects.

Caruso Leather was created in 2021. Though somehow it has been with me my whole life.

I love creating unique items that are traditionally made, from the beautiful timeless Italian veg tan leather I use, to hand stitching and personally designing my items, I hope you can enjoy the nostalgia that comes from owning a traditionally made custom leather item.
